The Mystic Heart - Ken Wilber

Posted on May 12th, 2007 by CaitsRaven : _____! CaitsRaven
The Mystic Heart, a seven part lecture series In which Ken Wilber discusses with the late  Brother Wayne Teasdale, how an integral perspective can bring the revelations of mysticism into everyday life. Allowing us to see how in his opinion an integral perspective can possibly  bring the revelations of mysticism into everyday life. And in so doing, we are able to learn how to give fullest expression—as parents and professionals, students and seekers—to the Mystic Heart in each of us. Hope you all enjoy it, there is a lot of viewing, but its food for thought, nourishing the senses is always good.

Enjoy

The Mystic Heart - Part 7 - Out of the Self, Into the Light

"Every one of us is a mystic. We may or may not realize it, we may not even like it. But whether we know it or not, whether we accept it or not, mystical experience is always there, inviting us on a journey of ultimate discovery. We have been given the gift of life in this perplexing world to become who we ultimately are: creatures of boundless love, caring compassion, and wisdom. Existence is a summons to the eternal journey of the sage - the sage we all are, if only we could see."

Brother Wayne Teasdale, The Mystic Heart

Have a wonderful weekend everyone

Love

Caitlin

Excellent I received a real overview intro to KW this past winter through a series of interviews called Kosmic Consciousness.  Lots to digest and very useful.  I'll have to return for viewing later.  Thanks for this.
Blessings, David

Oh wow David!! I want those CD's LOL … what topics he covers wow. I have to admit I didnt even know who KW was till Zaadz's so I just saw one of his topics on the Ego I blogged a piece on Ego earlier . I actually don;t see our ego's as stumbling blocks but a doorway to our deeper selves. This is where I believe shadow work is a key component in unleashing our true potential.

Now i so want these CD's!
Thanks David.

I agree re the ego and shadow work…
I can't remember where but I received a special discount somehow from soundstrue which produced or at least sells them.  I've been lending them out to friends ever since.  When they return they're as good as in the mail to you.

Hello there - I came back to view these - easy to get blown away isn’t it?

From one of the first ones this stuck - paraphrased; Don’t ever give or devote yourself to God in one grand promising gesture because you’ll spend the rest of your life stealing pieces of yourself back bit by bit.

Still mulling on it.

I would like to hear what you thought he meant. When i first heard it , i actually felt as if he meant loosing oneself to something other than the self without first recognising who we are. So there for when we give ourselves over without first finding ourselves we will continually be taking back pieces of the self.

I might  listen again, but you are right its a mouthfull to think about.

Hi there: hopefully I am not intruding on this conversation…Hi again CaitsRaven…hello  David…just wanted to say that I like the way you put this CaitsRaven…yes, it makes sense that the parts of ourselves we have dissociated or disowned we can't properly “donate”  to anything until we re-integrate them…those shadow aspects are already “donated” to their own aims, usually grounded in earlier motivational drives (e.g. sex and aggression and so on).

I don't know if this clarifies any or adds more confusion :)

Great learning curve - I see how this integrates the “Allness of All”
and found the insight enlightening and easy to follow.

Thanks for finding and sharing these videos.

Durwin .. I like what you are saying and it was basically what I uderstood. Every clip has a gem within it , I honestly feel like so much can be learnt from just listening to these two men dialogue. So much food for thought, but all in all it does seem to all boil down to a similar thread “The self”  and how the self views itself and conducts itself in regards to its surroundings. How does one fit in the creater scheme of things, be it the cosmos or an intimate relationship all of which assist or hinder oneself in the access and full integration of the shadow self. The shadow self in my opinion being the access point, the gate or key to our full potential as human beings.

Kathy nice to know you found the videos useful :):):)

Yes to all - I do enjoy this.  I'm recalling they then went on to speak of enlightened folks and all of us aspiring to fully realize that “God” is us.  That when truly inspired folks speak in terms of I Am God it is a humbling of ego - perhaps even an absence of ego as the connection is finally understood and you don't have to hold back from / give to another - they're the same.  That there is a difference between someone saying this from ego and someone saying this from truly understanding it.

I have these little points of clarity… and an awesome sense that they are just the tip of the iceberg.
